Introduction

D3 typically presents data at the highest possible aggregation. Analysis of data often requires “drill down” operations that can allow users to observe categories, trends, and relationships of the data. This results in a better understanding of the data and can help in identifying issues, realizing opportunities and, in general, enhancing the decision making process.

Process

Explore allows for the systematic dissection of information using tools that apply successive actions to drill down, categorize, sub-categorize, and/or filter the data.

These steps can proceed indefinitely until the user arrives at data attributed to individual classrooms, teachers, or students.

Starting Points

Data Explorer can be initiated from any chart, scorecard metric, a previously saved exploration, or from scratch.
